Blog Progress Report For The Month Of February
Now this blog is 2 months old, where has the time gone? I am still enjoying posting on the blog as much as I can, there has been a little time where I went on holiday (vacation) so I took a break from writing but still continued to comment on all the posts so that kept me busy enough. I really enjoy reading everyone’s comments on my posts and replying to them, it is really nice to see that my little blog has started to slowly take off and people are reading my content. I think that’s really awesome.

Cold Hard Stats
Alright, lets take a look at the stats. I am only going to be using Google Analytics for this from now on as my AWstats are over run by bots (I believe) and this skews the total views to a much bigger website than it is.
February Stats – Google Analytics

As this was a shorter month the Page Views were always going to be less and really, overall page views per day were down as well. I managed 53.5 pageviews per day on average here. The blog also was able to make $6.63 AUD in the month of February, this was mainly contributed by someone who clicked on an ad and gained me $4.50+. Typically, the website is making 1 or 2 cents per day which is still a nice added bonus for doing something I really enjoy.
February Sources – Google Analytics
As you can see, most of my visitors come from Referrals which I am not too bothered with at the moment. This is from me posting on other people’s blogs and replying to comments which is great as our Dividend Community is a real friendly one.
How did you go in February 2017?

Nice month BHL – $6.63 on 1500 page views is not bad at all for a month! I got almost 3k views last month but only made $2… π
This month should be better. I think I might be able to get up to 4000 views!
Best of luck in March. Cheers!
That’s fantastic Erik, typically I would only get 1 or 2 cents per day so this was a lot more than I was expecting too.
Nice job BHL, you’re making fast & good progress. Keep it up π Last month we got $59.62 from Google Adsense, which means we can make a withdrawal when added to the previous couple of months.
Tristan
That’s excellent, that’s over $2 a day, well done to you guys. I hope you can continue that trend, that could mean another purchase if it continues ($59.62*12 = $715.44). Good on ya.
Not bad at all. I need to start reviewing my traffic stats, I just look at my monthly Adsense revenue. Last month it was $185, which was a record month for me. It’s not going to make me rich, but it covers my blog expenses ;-).
Well that’s right IH, it covers costs and any left over can go straight towards buying some more stock in the future, its a win-win situation. Cheers
Wow, I’m glad you’re still making money on the blog.
For me, I don’t think about making money on the blog, because of the 80/20 rules. LOL π I could make more money doing rental property or dividend investing. Blogging is a hobby… spending a lot of time fine tuning it, but little reward. Only the elite fews can make money off of it.
I agree, I am definitely not in this for the money, otherwise I would be broke. My day time job pays fairly nicely for someone at my age and location so that will still be my main source of income. Blogging is my hobby and if I can get a dollar or two doing it then that’s just a bonus. Cheers
You’ve inspired me to finally install analytics on my site. Not planning on monetizing, but I want pretty graphs like you have.
The graphs are a really nice way to show how your site has been doing and where the sources of traffic are coming from. Cheers
OMG BHL
You’re my hero. I have the google analytics plug in, but I’m going to have to figure out how to use it. How did you get so many page views already in just a couple of months. Any SEO resources you can provide would be helpful.
Anyway, great report for the month of February
Thanks DL, I use a few SEO apps that are available from the wordpress store. The main one I use is called All In One SEO Pack, very handy indeed. Most of my traffic comes from referrals, that’s me communicating with other bloggers. Cheers
Thanks!
Anytime.
Not bad at all – glad to see the blog growing and you still enjoying the writing. I don’t have any ads on my site just to keep it simple since I can’t control the content(I do have amazon ads since I like the product) but I do like looking at the page views and such especially the keywords people use to find my blog on google!
It really is an exciting thing to see others come to your page. Thanks for the comment. Keep those views coming!
My recommendation would be to not even try to monetize your website early on with ads. Setting up a referral style page is one thing because a user could choose to sign up for something or not, but at this stage you are merely trying to establish an audience and get some traffic from Google to start accumulating with more posts and long-tail keywords.
Thanks for the advice, I will take that on board. Cheers
It looks like we are fairly similar in our progression on our websites. I also launched my site in December and been working on getting content written and building a following.
I had 1,957 page views in February with 46% referral, 30% direct, 9% paid search, 8% social, and 7% organic search.
This brought in $8.41 in AdSense income, and also brought in 105 clicks to links of my Seeking Alpha articles.
It has been a huge learning curve, but I am really enjoying the blogging and the challenge in building the site up.
Looking forward to hearing more from you, I’ve now bookmarked your site!
Thanks for that Eric. It does seem we are both doing quite well for new blogs, keep up the good work!
Nice traffic this month. Of course it will be slightly lighter because of the short month. Any revenue created helps. Just to pay for the expenses of owing a site and being able to fuel your hobby. Still impressive numbers for being so new in the community. Keep growing!
On an unrelated side note, double check your milestone links. Looks like your $25k net worth is linked to $250 in dividends. Which would be really impressive since you haven’t checked off the milestone for first dividend payment yet haha. I would have just emailed you but I don’t see any contact info so comment will have to do.
Cheers!
Thanks for the comment DD, I’ll get right on both of those. I should create a contact me and will fix those links, thanks for the heads up. Very helpful, cheers.
Sorry just as a follow up, this wasn’t supposed to be $250 in dividends but rather $250 in forward payments of dividends, I will change this accordingly.
BHL,
Great to see the growth in your blog and the mushrooming number of viewers. Keep writing!
Take care,
– Ryan
Thanks Ryan, I’m trying to keep the numbers coming in. Cheers
That’s a good start to blogging BHL. Just remember to post regularly and you will see those numbers shoot up.
Thanks MG UK. I am trying to post regularly enough to start getting a following. Thanks
For a blog that’s only 2 months old, you’re making good progress! I had a blog a few years ago, and it took me half a year just to get to 600 visitors a month. Keep up the good work!
Thanks. I hope I can continue to put out great content to keep people coming.
